Victor Dupuis began painting at the age of 12.  His parents immediately recognized his abilities and sent him to study
under area artist Tom Morris.  As a teenager he exhibited at the Leominster Art Association’s annual competition and
exhibit and won first prize for a painting at age 14.  Throughout his teens, Dupuis continued studying with Morris, refining
his drawing technique and learning oil painting essentials.  After graduating from Notre Dame High School, he continued
studying art at U-Mass Lowell where he majored in painting and art education.

Dupuis then returned to Fitchburg, and began teaching painting.  In 1982 he moved to Boston to pursue a career in
theater, which has also been an abiding passion.  He worked for Baker’s Plays and appeared in numerous productions at
the SpeakEasy and Triangle Theaters, where he also designed sets, and did stage management.  During this period of time,
he continued painting and sold his works privately.`In 2000, he again returned to Fitchburg and has since shown his
works at the Fitchburg Art Museum’s annual Regional Exhibition.  He works at Foothills Theater and is also active in local
theater community as a performer, director and set designer.

Victor's  painting subjects include Coggshall Park, views of Rollstone Hill in Fitchburg,  seascapes, forest views and
studies of vintage architecture.  Victor believes that his long experience as an actor and set designer has influenced his
technique as a painter.  “I’ve always loved the paintings of the Impressionists and Pre-Raphaelites,” he says.  “I’m drawn
to creating unusual sources of light in my work, like back lighting for the stage,” he explains.
