This is a nicely restored 1924 Iver Johnson Model 87, Men's truss frame roadster in Iver Johnson Rajah Red paint with a hand
striped spear point white head. Serial # 415972 is stamped on the seat tube of this 22" roadster. Up front is the bikes original,
post-21 Iver badge. This bike is was found on a trip to Barre VT, and although complete, the condition was so poor that it warranted a
complete restoration. The original 28" x 1 1/2" Crescent wood wheels were broken in several locations so they were replaced with 28'
x 1 1/2" Westwood style wheels and Schwalbe 28" x 1 1/2" cream tires. The original New Departure style "D" coaster brake hub in the
rear and a very nice Iver Johnson hub up front were re-chromed and used. The 1" pitch chainring has 26 teeth and is mated to a 10
tooth rear sprocket. The original Iver Johnson "Ohio #112" 21" handlebars with forward extension stem were re-chromed and used a
and comfort grips were added. Its original saddle was too far gone so it was replaced with a nice Troxel Delux long spring saddle of
similar period style. Pedals are Person's Supreme ball bearing rubber pedals. A drop stand and rear Iver Johnson carrier were
added. All in all, a nicely restored example of an early Iver Johnson truss frame roadster rescued from dead and given a second
chance in life.
