1920's IVER JOHNSON MODEL 90 TRUSS FRAME ROAD RACER

This is a 1920's Iver Johnson Model 90, Truss Frame Road Racer, with a 22" frame, in "as found" condition and needing complete
restoration. Serial # 416639 is stamped on the seat tube. Some evidence of green paint can be seen in places although I'm not sure it
is original to the bike. This bike has a very solid and straight steel frame with most all of the hard to find parts still intact. Up front you
can see evidence of the correct nickel headtube under layers of old paint, the narrow nickel racing fork, and after removing bit of
paint, hints of the original gold headbadge can be seen.
The racer is resting on a set of steel racing wheels with a chrome finish. The front wheel is laced to a 36 spoke Iver Johnson
stamped hub, and the rear wheel to a Model A New Departure coaster brake hub with 9 teeth.. I don't believe this wheelset is original
as Iver Johnson did not offer (to the best of my knowledge) steel wheels in the early 20's. The bike retains the original Iver Johnson
seat post, handlebar stem, and racing handlebars. The chainring is the original "snowflake" style with 22 teeth, pedal arms are 7", and
still in place is the originl dust cap found on the model 90 racers. The seat is stamped "Persons" but I have no idea if it's original to
the bike. Non-original rubber pedals were on the bike when I purchased it.
All things considered, because this bike is in such poor overall condition, I'd like to do a complete restoration on this racer at some
point in time. Because I'd be starting with a fairly complete candidate, and because it's the Truss Frame model, I think it would be well
worth the effort.
