| This may also be the perfect spot to include a turn of the century poem that features Rollstone Hill or the Boulder as its theme. “Rollstone Mountain” written by Martha Tolman, and "Sunset Over Rollstone", by Henry A. Goodrich, two of Fitchburg’s noted poets of the day, are a few of the many samples that are available. Both are powerfully written and historically significant pieces of verse that connect the sentiments of Fitchburg’s citizens at that point in time to Rollstone Mountain. There are several other long forgotten poems, and even a song, penned by notable Fitchburg citizens about our beloved Boulder and Rollstone Hill. Perhaps several key phrases from these poems could be etched into the rock along the trail? What an inspirational journey it would be to reflect upon their messages as one makes their way to the summit. |
