THE FITCHBURG "ROCK WALK"
A PROPOSAL BY PETER CAPODAGLI
|The idea of a “Rock Walk” came to my mind recently, as my wife and I were spending a long weekend in Western Mass. We
had heard there was a great exhibit at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown and we wanted to check it out. As we drove into
town, I was a little taken back by the number of people simply walking along the sidewalks and the Main Street. It was a busy
place, and there wasn’t one vacancy to be found in their downtown. When we arrived at the museum, we had to actually wait
in line to purchase tickets. I just didn’t expect this kind of activity in this somewhat remote and isolated little town. So, as
always, I started to compare, what are they offering that we are not?
Well, directly on Main Street, sits the impressive First Congregational Church……………but, its no more impressive than the
First Parish Church that sits at the head of our Upper Common.
